Terms of Service

Last updated: May 29, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the CommandMac iPhone application, the free CommandMac macOS companion app, and this website (together, the "Service"). By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

CommandMac lets you control a Mac from an iPhone over a shared local network — for example adjusting volume, controlling media playback, launching apps, locking or sleeping the display, and keeping the Mac awake. The iPhone app and the Mac companion communicate directly over your local network. CommandMac does not route this control traffic through our servers.

2. License

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own non-commercial or internal business use. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the Service except as permitted by applicable law or Apple's standard license terms.

3. Subscriptions & billing

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only on devices and networks you own or are authorized to control, and only in compliance with applicable laws. You must not use the Service to gain unauthorized access to any device, or in a way that disrupts or harms others.

5. Community modules

CommandMac can download optional community-contributed control modules from third-party sources you choose. Such modules are provided by their respective authors, not by us. You are responsible for the modules you install, and we make no warranty regarding third-party modules.

6. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties including Apple (distribution and payments), RevenueCat (subscription management), and — for this website's waitlist — Resend (email). Your use of those services is subject to their own terms.

7. Disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every Mac or network configuration.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months before the claim.

9. Changes

We may modify the Service or these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers and limitation of liability) will survive.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the operator's place of residence, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing here limits any non-waivable consumer rights you may have.
